Open Qualifier SL i-League Invitational S3 Has Ended, Team Phoenix from SEA Plays in NA

The regional qualifiers for the S3 Minor SL i-League Invitational tournament are over. There are 4 teams that enter this minor event through regional qualifiers. In addition, the South Korean team, Team Phoenix, represented the North America region.

So the teams that managed to qualify for the Minor SL i-League Invitational S3 tournament through regional qualifications were Team Phoenix and Blue Pikachu from the North America region, SFT esports from the Europe region, and Braveheart from the China region. They will participate with other teams to take part in the first minor tournament that uses Valve’s new competition system.

It is not strange for Team Phoenix to be able to enter this event because they are former players from MVP Phoenix, but uniquely they play in the North America region, not in SEA. In addition, a new team, Blue Pikachu, also managed to enter this tournament through regional qualifications.

Then surprisingly the newly formed SFT esports team managed to beat 2 new teams that had several veteran players in it such as the new team from Troels ‘syndereN’ Nielsen and also the MeedorFeed team with Aliwi ‘w33’ Omar and Maurice ‘KheZu’ Gutmann. For the Braveheart team they were able to beat the Newbee Young team and Team Serenity to secure their position in this tournament.

The SL i-League Invitational Season 3 Minor Tournament will be held at CyberSport Arena in Kiev, Ukraine from 12-15 October 2017. This is the first Minor tournament to feature the best 8 teams from around the world where 6 teams will come from regional qualifiers and 2 more teams from direct invites that have yet to be announced. The total prize pool for this tournament is $300,000,- and will be the first tournament to use the qualifying points system for The International 8.
