PS5 Big Update Adds External Hard Drive Support and New Social Features!

It’s been almost half a year since the era of the new generation of consoles began, and until now the hype is still very strong. With this latest support, players can increase the storage capacity of their console without having to delete game data that is no longer played.

However, because PS5 games are specifically designed to take advantage of the high-speed SSD performance on the console, games stored on an external hard drive can’t be played. This also includes how you can’t download game data from the PlayStation Store to an external hard drive, so the ability to play and download game data still requires work from the console’s built-in SSD.

In addition, this latest update also brings new social features that allow players to use Share Play access and chat via Chat Party. This feature even allows PS5 players to share their game views with PS5 players, and vice versa. The options offered include sharing game views with friends, switching controllers virtually to friends, and also setting up virtual controller schemes to play co-op games.
