Ready to Adventure with Favorite VTuber? Hololive Prepares an Official Online Game Adaptation!
Along with the development of the Virtual YouTuber trend that increasingly dominates every year, now the content creators who are described as anime-style characters are gaining loyal fan bases around the world. But of the many popular VTubers, most of them belong to the Hololive agency, which reportedly will even prepare a variety of new projects including online game adaptations.
Yup, that’s right, the company is currently preparing a big project called Hololive Alternative which includes several projects such as virtual shows to game adaptations. This project aims to create a “metaverse” where everyone can live in the online world using 2D characters. Information about the project became public again after the CEO Motoaki Tanigo uploaded the latest job listing on the website Wantedly.
Through his vacancy information, Tanigo is looking for someone who can fill the position of “Unity and client-side Engineer” for the online game project Hololive. The job page also shows an in-game screenshot that still looks rough, but you can see a 3D character model from VTuber Amane Kanata sitting in a green open space.
There is a lot of potential about what this online game will look like. From the screenshots you might be able to equate it with an anime-style MMORPG game, but on the other hand this can also be made into an adventure game that allows players to control VTuber characters and interact with other players. Not to mention that they can also create a kind of virtual show in the game which will be brought by the official VTuber Hololive character.
As part of Hololive Alternative, this is a project that took a long time to develop before it was ready to be presented to fans. We will try to monitor if there are other important updates and come back to them later.
