Tales of Symphonia is Still the Best Selling Game in the Franchise
Any JRPG fan must be familiar with the name Tales of. Officially debuting 25 years ago, this franchise by Bandai Namco has grown to become one of the most popular JRPG franchises in the world and continues to gain many fans from each of its new games. But of the many Tales games that have been released so far, surely most fans are curious about which series is the best-selling.
In response to this curiosity, Tales official YouTube channel has released a list of the top 10 best-selling Tales of games of the past two decades, which also includes a spin-off series. From the data they shared, the first position was occupied by Tales of Symphonia with sales of 2.4 million copies. The second position was followed by Tales of Vesperia with 2.3 million copies, and surprisingly the classic series Tales of Destiny took third place with 1.7 million copies. Tales of Symphonia itself is the game that brings the most influence to the franchise, which is indeed the same as Final Fantasy VII first. So Tales of Symphonia is the first Tales of game that uses 3D graphics and has achieved great success since its release as a GameCube exclusive game.
Thanks to its increasing popularity, Bandai Namco has expanded the series with another new game titled Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World and an anime adaptation of Ufotable which runs for three seasons. Thanks to its enormous influence, it is not impossible that this one series will be resurrected through a remake version.
