Tenseisha Goroshi, Manga by Creator Kakegurui Canceled After Only 1 Chapter

Greeted with great enthusiasm as an Isekai manga that has the potential to become a big hit, especially the fact that this is a new work from Homura Kawamoto who is known as the creator behind Kakegurui, the fate of the Tenseisha Goroshi aka Cheat Slayer manga has a sad ending. After officially starting the serialization in Kadokawa’s Dragon Age magazine, which has only been running for one chapter, this manga ended up being cancelled.

This is something that rarely happens, especially for the work of a renowned creator like Kawamoto, so what’s the real reason? The answer was a massive protest from fans because of the similarities of all the main characters to characters from other Isekai series. For example, there is a character named Kiruto who is a parody version of Kirito (Sword Art Online), until the most hilarious is Honda which is a parody version of Subaru (Re:Zero). This applies to all of the other characters, including from how their designs even look identical.

Although conceptually it sounds quite funny or interesting, on the other hand, many fans actually consider it a form of ridicule. They were disappointed about why this manga, which has the potential to be a great work, had to use characters that were not original and were clearly a rip-off version. It should be noted that Homura Kawamoto’s role is as a story writer, so the manga illustrations and character designs are handled by Aki Yamaguchi. But it still doesn’t rule out the possibility that all the characters and their naming are directions from Kawamoto.

So what do you think about this event? Is Tenseisha Goroshi really worth canceling or do you want to see it continue to be serialized?
