This Ex NBA Star Player Plans to Form an Esports Team


Former NBA star Stephon Marbury announced via Weibo that he was planning to dive into the world of esports. The former point guard who once played for the New York Knicks will form a team and select players who will take shelter in the organization he formed.

Stephon Marbury is an NBA dropout who has gained quite a bit of popularity in China. In 2010 Marbury decided to seek a new experience playing basketball in the Chinese Basketball Association, Shanxi Zhongyu Brave Dragons was the first Chinese team he defended and then moved to Foshan Dralions.

It was only in 2011 that he strengthened the Beijing Ducks club and brought the team three times out as champion of the Chinese Basketball Association. For his services, a statue of him was made which is located at the LeSport Center and in 2015 yesterday Stephon Marbury opened a museum that contains the journey of his career.

Stephon Marbury added to the number of professional basketball athletes who tasted the frenetic world of esports after Rick Fox founded the Echo Fox team, Shaquille O’Neal invested in NRG eSports and the Philadelphia 76ers club acquired Team Dignitas and Apex.
