This is Astria Ascending, a Charming New JRPG from a Final Fantasy Story Writer

Although the name Kazushige Nojima may seem foreign to many gamers out there, but who would have thought if he was one of the figures who had quite a big influence in the development of various quality games. Since starting his career since 1988, Nojima has been involved in many game projects as a story writer for various Final Fantasy series and other JRPG games. Entering 2021, it turns out that Nojima is back involved in his new game project, entitled Astria Ascending.

Through the latest information shared Famitsu, Astria Ascending is a JRPG game which is a reimagined version of a mobile game called Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey. This certainly explains why the character design in the game is very similar to the mobile game. But apart from the character designs, the overall mechanics of the game are completely new with a combination of fantasy and sci-fi themes.

The world setting in the game is still the same, but the story has been overhauled and is more serious. Hitoshi Sakimoto’s involvement as a composer has resulted in a lot of quality soundtracks that are also combined with previous games. Not to be missed, there is also an additional Japanese language option for players who want to experience the sensation of playing a more pure JRPG.

When is the Game Released?

Astria Ascending is currently still in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in 2021. This release is only for the Japanese region, but there is a high possibility that a global version will follow in the future.
