Xbox Cooperates with Hololive to Promote Game Pass in Japan

It’s no secret that Xbox’s position in Japan is far from relevant. Microsoft has been trying hard to make its console brand able to compete in the Asian market, but so far their efforts have not yielded maximum results. New hope finally came through the release of the Xbox Series console and the Xbox Game Pass service which must be admittedly very tempting, especially for all gamers who want to get free access to play the myriad of games in their library.

Especially for this week, Microsoft finally took a new marketing step through their collaboration with Hololive, or more specifically Shishiro Botan and Himemori Luna to promote Xbox Game Pass in Japan. This form of promotion is in the form of gameplay content from Gears 5, Control, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Forza Horizon 4 which is distributed to fans of the two virtual YouTubers.

It must be admitted that this is a very effective marketing strategy, especially when it comes to Japanese gamers. The reason is because the virtual YouTuber trend is indeed booming in Asia, and this has even spread to other regions around the world. The influence exerted by virtual YouTubers has also proven to be very effective in making a game much more popular. One of the proofs is Apex Legends, which eventually became one of the busiest competitive games in Japan today with the second largest player base after the United States.

If in the future Microsoft can maintain this momentum, then it is not impossible that they will get strong attention from Japanese gamers. Of course this process takes a long time, but it will be very interesting to see how their position will end up in the following years.
