80% of Capcom Game Sales Now Come from the Digital Version!
If we go back 10 years ago, it might not be unthinkable that the digital version will be ogled by many gamers. However, over time, this turned out to be not impossible. In the era of very fast internet, the more affordable it is, many gamers are starting to be more interested in buying the digital version than the physical version.
What’s more, the digital version is known to be free from distribution problems such as games that may arrive late or worse, don’t arrive at our homes, this makes many gamers start switching to digital versions. It turns out that this is also starting to be felt by Capcom, as one of the giant developers in the game industry.
80% of Capcom’s total game sales come from the digital version!
In their latest financial report, Capcom came up with some surprising news. Where they admit that currently 80% of Capcom’s game sales come from the digital version. This figure is a sharp increase from 2021, where only about 53% of total sales are digital versions.
Capcom will increase sales of digital version by 90%
Capcom itself has ambitions to continue to push this figure to reach 90% in the future. One of the main contributors to this figure is, of course, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, which is popular across all platforms.
With this report, it is certain that Capcom in the future will struggle to maximize the potential benefits that the digital version can offer and suppress the distribution of physical games to only 10%.
They are currently preparing Resident Evil: Village which is planned to be released on the next-gen console. In addition, Capcom is also reportedly developing Resident Evil 4: Remake. What do you think about this? Give your feedback below.
