Anthem Will Be Redesigned, No New Season For Now
February 22, 2021 Anthem release, an online multiplayer third-person shooter game from developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts (EA). Tells the story of a Freelancer (our character) as a guardian of the city of Freemark, against the Dominion troops who want to control a mysterious power called Anthem. Freelancers can use an exosuit called Javelin, which is similar to Tony Stark’s Iron Man armor. Javelin is divided into 4 types: Ranger, Colossus, Interceptor and Storm. Each Javelin has different shapes and skills, and can be customized in color.
Moment Anthem The release had various issues, such as difficulty joining other players, lack of endgame content, and an item drop rate that was too low. This makes Anthem received a lot of protests from the players, and compared to Destiny and Tom Clancy’s The Division. In a matter of months the number of active players Anthem also dropped dramatically, long before they held Season content. Even after the Season starts, there are no quality upgrades.
Ahead of the 1 year anniversary, BioWare announced the latest update via their blog that they will not be adding new Season content in the future. This is because their team is focusing on redesigning Anthem, not just updating or expanding. With this they take months for Freelancers to enjoy more meaningful content.
This is not the first time this has happened in the world of online gaming. Final Fantasy XIV at the time of release in 2010 also had a lot of gameplay and content issues. Square Enix also completely overhauled the game, and re-released it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in 2021.
Bitter experience Final Fantasy XIV could be a good lesson for BioWare in the process of overhauling Anthem, so as not to rush to be better than the current version. BioWare itself is also developing the fourth Dragon Age series, currently titled Dragon Age: The Dread Wolf Rises.
