Namely Nathan “Sneaky” Nayagom was assigned as an ambassador (representative) of the AS Monaco club that will compete in the 2016-2017 FIFA esports tournament. A few days earlier Epsilon eSports had signaled that they would cooperate with a football club that has a great history, many people speculated about which big team would join and the puzzle was solved yesterday.
Many say that AS Monaco’s move into the world of esports follows another French team, namely Paris St-Germain who recruited Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim as head of the esports division and formed a League of Legends team to enter the EU Challenger tournament, as well as recruiting two professional players. FIFA 17 are August “Agge” Rosenmeier and Lucas “Daxe” Cuillerier.
AS Monaco football club was founded in 1919 and currently plays in the French top flight Ligue 1 division, last they won the league in 1999-2000. The step taken by AS Monaco is a step forward towards the future with the inclusion of traditional sports entities into esports, while also signaling an explosion of activity in the French esports industry.
