Square Enix's New Division Starts Work on Large-Scale Projects for Next Gen Consoles

To face the console era next-gen in the next few years, Square Enix currently preparing to face it by forming a new division. Division named 3rd Development Division it has reportedly started working on a new, large-scale project to welcome the next generation of consoles. The project was previously carried out by 5th Business Division since 2021. After the division was disbanded, this secret project was resumed.

The 3rd Development Division will be led by the creator FF XIV, Naoki Yoshida. In the past, Naoki Yoshida had expressed his disappointment after seeing non-Japanese games like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn at the 2021 event. He was frustrated that Square Enix didn’t have a game like that to show. To pay for the disappointment, Yoshida claims that he will definitely make a similar AAA game in the next 3 to 5 years, or people won’t trust him and Square Enix anymore.
