FeelReal Brings Sense of Smell to VR World

By using technology virtual reality, now gamer can feel the sensation of being in the game world, thus making the game that is played feels more realistic. However, despite being equipped with advanced technology, all VR headset that have been circulating in the market are only focused on two senses, namely sight and hearing. But now, gamer can add one more sense when playing video games via VR that is smell, through the emergence of peripherals made by FeelReal.

Past press release which was released on December 19th, FeelReal announced about pre-release of the Multi-Sensory VR Mask which allows users to, among other features, smell the scent while playing games or watching movies using VR headset. Besides being able to be used with peripherals such as the Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR, the mask can be directly used for aromatherapy purposes.

FeelReal’s masks have an aroma generator, which can hold nine scent capsules in the form of cartridge which can be replaced. Therefore, user can smell 255 different scents while watching movies, playing games, or aromatherapy. According to the info on FeelReal’s official website, among the many scents on offer, user can smell lavender, mint, burning rubber, to gunpowder. In addition to olfactory features, these peripherals can also simulate other sensory experiences such as heat, wind, water, and vibration.

For the time being, it is not known when this Multi-Sensory VR Mask will be available in the market. But based on the info, this FeelReal-made peripheral is compatible with games such as Beat Saber, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, Death Horizon, Guns’n’Stories: Bulletproof VR, and The Last Day Defense.
