gb_Wall Toukiden Kiwami 01

Last February 2014, Toukiden: The Age of Demons was released for PSP and PS Vita devices. Now comes Toukiden: Kiwami as an upgraded version that you can play on PlayStation 4, complete with Cross-Play and Cross-Save features that allow you to transfer data from Toukiden: The Age of Demon into this version. You’ll also find two new characters that make the world even more interesting. In addition, the number of demons present in Toukiden: Kiwami has also been multiplied so that it provides a more adrenaline-pumping challenge for all gamers.

In addition, the story is expanded and complemented by a selection of new weapons. No wonder this game has a size that is twice much larger than the previous version. For those of you who haven’t had the chance to play Toukiden: The Age of Demon, you can still experience the thrill of playing Story mode in this installment because Kiwami’s new scenario begins in chapter eight.

The New Version is Totally Worth-it
Toukiden: Kiwami is about a group of knights known as the Slayers who wage war against a mysterious existence called the Oni. These knights have been fighting the Oni for more than 1000 years to protect humanity from the cruel world of darkness. It sounds cliché, but what’s the point of playing games if we’re not in a world where good and evil are at war with each other?

Overall, the setting of Toukiden: Kiwami is in place. In addition to the range of characters that you will play, this long game will not feel tiring because the characters themselves are memorable. When starting the game, you will be advised to create your own character. Toukiden: Kiwami provides a huge variety of hairstyles, faces, and voices to choose from. Not only that, you also have a variety of choices to determine the color of your hair and skin.

Meanwhile, the weapons that will be used during the fight are provided neatly and completely, ranging from swords, spears, arrows, knives, and so on. For those of you who want to get a much better weapon, you can buy strong weapons complete with appropriate armor. After creating the character you want, a scene will start to show a little story behind this game. Next you’ll see a short tutorial that will teach you how to best perform attacks, special attacks, and tell you about the Eye of Truth.

The characters that you have customized have their own rooms to access weapons, armor, materials, and letters sent by other characters. Not only letters, they can also send armor and weapons that you can buy or exchange. In addition, gamers are also allowed to explore other parts of the hub so that they can interact with other characters, visit the shop to buy more powerful battle gear, and so on.

The Combat Systems Largely the Same
Just like most games in the same genre, in Toukiden: Kiwami you have to report to the Command Center in order to get Missions and Quests. The missions that you will get are usually fairly short with the main task of cleaning the area contaminated by the Oni, here you can also deal with bosses who are quite difficult. Meanwhile, the Quests given are related to various jobs, such as collecting items and so on. While on a mission, you can receive a maximum of five quests. After completing the mission and getting the item from the quest you did, you must return to the Command Center to report and get a decent reward.

The combat system itself is almost the same. You have to run around different areas or Ages, fight the Oni and kill them by slashing the Oni’s limbs to get the items needed to make new equipment. The new feature provided in this game allows you to command NPCs even when you are playing offline. You can also order them to attack, defend, help each other, or whatever they need. Another new feature allows team attacks anywhere. After the gauge is fully charged, you can issue a team attack that can slash multiple Oni limbs at the same time.

If the battle goes unequally, you can add new members who have their respective battle skills: Attack, Defense, Speed, Healing, Spirit, Deceit, Space, Luck, Support and Plunder. Where all these fighting styles are very important, especially Healing. If you want to play multiplayer online, you have to go to the rocks scattered around the map and set the game there. If you take on missions on the same map that Tenko is exploring, there’s a chance you’ll meet them. Even so, you need a lot of patience to run here and there and fight with the same venom constantly while looking for the items you need.

When choosing a weapon, you have to think about it carefully because the type of weapon you choose can affect the speed of movement and the attacks you do. For example when using heavy weapons such as gauntlets or clubs, your movement will be slower while your attacks will be stronger. On the other hand, if you use a knife or spear, your movement will be faster, but your attack power will be weaker.

Toukiden: Kiwami also has a system called the ‘Stance of Communion’ which contains four different skills that are given to the player but depending on the Mitama you manage to get, Mitama itself is the soul of the heroes that have been annihilated by the Oni. A number of valuable skills that you can get from Mitama include Recovery. Overall, the battle system presented in Toukiden: Kiwami is relatively smooth and smooth with fast animation. The control of the camera itself will not be too confusing for gamers.

Closing Comments
Toukiden: Kiwami provides the best experience of what an action RPG genre can offer. The story presented in this game is also one of the best stories you can run. But the most fun part is the various new features that complement this game. It makes us believe that Toukiden: Kiwami is a better version than the version released last year.
