Mobile Game Star Ocean: Anamnesis Will Close Permanently in Japan

Star Ocean is only one of the many JRPG franchise names made by Square Enix that have managed to maintain their existence until now. Although the fifth series received a fairly negative reception, this franchise began to gain more popularity through the release of the mobile RPG game Star Ocean: Anamnesis which had become our favorite mobile game at that time.

Unfortunately, this game lacked success which forced the developers to withdraw it from the global market. Since then, players can only access the game on the Japanese server, which happens to still get regular updates and cool collaboration events. However, the existence of the game in Japan was also not maintained forever, forcing Square Enix and tri-Ace to close it.

So through the latest announcement on the official website Square Enix Bridge, they announced that the Star Ocean: Anamnesis servers will be permanently closed in June. The process will begin with the addition of the last content on May 6, which will then be followed by closing the server on June 24. With this, Star Ocean: Anamnesis will no longer operate and be played by all players.

It’s really unfortunate, but like most mobile games on the market, publishers and developers often make tough decisions when they feel that the game is no longer able to bring profits on target. Star Ocean: Anamnesis is a solid RPG mobile game as we mentioned at the beginning, only popularity still plays the strongest role to maintain the relevance of the game in the market.

Hopefully this closure doesn’t immediately rule out the possibility that the Star Ocean franchise will be on hiatus for a long time. Because it will be a shame if there are no new games later.
