Moonton Inaugurates MPL Cambodia Season 1
Moonton announced Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Cambodia (KH) MPL Cambodia. This league will provide an opportunity for Cambodian gamers to hone their skills and compete in the official Mobile Legends esports tournament. For the first season of MPL Cambodia, Moonton partnered with Cambodia’s leading mobile telecommunications operator, Smart.
The inaugural MPL KH Season will be divided into two seasons per year with the first season starting from August to October 2021, according to the official announcement on the Instagram account. The first season MPL KH champion will get the chance to represent Cambodia at the upcoming Mobile Legends Bang Bang, M3 World Championship.
Cambodia has been one of the most consistent regions to participate in the Mobile Legends esports scene, with Impunity KH being its newest representative at the M2 event and the 2021 Mobile Legends Southeast Asian Cup (MSC). However, the region does not yet have its own official esports league.
A major reveal was announced via Leng by Smart’s official Facebook page on July 20, 2021, revealing that Cambodia will finally have its own Mobile Legends league, MPL KH, with its first season held around August 2021.

We always listen to our customers, many of whom are passionate gamers who want the right league here that will provide real competition and real opportunities to advance,” said Smart Axiata CEO Thomas Hundt, as quoted by the Khmer Times.
The first season MPL KH champion will have the right to become the first champion of the major Mobile Legends esports league in the region along with the chance to represent Cambodia in the upcoming M3 World Championship.
Recently, Moonton also inaugurated the Brazilian and Philippine MPL. With the addition of MPL in other countries, Moonton is a real step to expand its reach globally. It’s interesting to see how the esports scene and the MLBB scene in Cambodia will develop in the future.
