ONE Esports Singapore Major Becomes the Final Event of DPC 2021 Winter Season!
After waiting for some time, finally the major tournament which will be the final round of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021 Winter Season has finally been announced. ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 Presented by PGL, will be the closing tournament for the 2021 DPC which is currently rolling. This tournament will only be filled by the top teams from each regional league currently playing.
Although a few days ago the website and news from the Singapore Major were leaked to the public, finally today ONE Esports and PGL as tournament sponsors and operators announced that the major tournament to end the DPC 2021 Winter Season will be held in Singapore and will take place from 27 March until April 4, 2021.
“ONE Esports and our partners, PGL and STB are proud to present The ONE Esports Singapore Major Presented by PGL,” said Carlos Alimurung, CEO of ONE Esports, as quoted from a press release on the ONE Esports page. Still in the same article, Carlos said that they are very happy to be able to hold a world-level competition that brings together the best Dota 2 teams, , with the event and a prize of US$500,000, this can show that Singapore is one of the mecca of esports in the world “

Singapore itself is considered suitable to hold this tournament because of the good handling of COVID-19 in the country. In addition, Singapore has previously held another world tournament, namely MOONTON Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M2 World Championship last January. Even though it was held behind closed doors (players were present and faced off, but without a live audience) the event was considered a success by many people in all respects.
The tournament that will be broadcast by PGL can later be enjoyed in 4K quality! The Singapore Major will be the first Dota 2 tournament to be broadcast in this resolution. But the PGL itself has experimented with broadcasting the SEA regional upper division DPC 2021 match with this quality. So you can imagine how beautiful the image that the audience can see (if the internet connection is strong enough to buffer 4K, hehehe).
There is no word yet on whether this tournament will be able to be attended by spectators in person. Considering the high number of pandemic cases in countries around Singapore, especially in Southeast Asia.

The tournament, which will be the first major after 14 months of rest due to this pandemic, will compete for a total prize pool of US$500,000 and 2,700 DPC points. However, the two prizes will only be obtained by the team that finishes in 8th to 1st place, so that from the 18 participating teams, only less than half of them will come home with prizes!
These 18 teams will later be filled by the top teams who are currently still competing in their respective DPC 2021 Regional League. The division is as follows:
- 4 teams from DPC 2021 European region
- Rank 1 goes straight to the playoffs
- 2nd place qualify for the group stage
- Ranks 3 and 4 qualify as wild cards
- 4 teams from DPC 2021 China region
- Rank 1 goes straight to the playoffs
- 2nd place qualify for the group stage
- Ranks 3 and 4 qualify as wild cards
- 3 teams from DPC 2021 Southeast Asia region
- Rank 1 goes straight to the playoffs
- 2nd place qualify for the group stage
- 3rd place qualify as wild card
- 3 teams from DPC 2021 CIS region (Eastern Europe, Balkans and Russia)
- Rank 1 goes straight to the playoffs
- 2nd place qualify for the group stage
- 3rd place qualify as wild card
- 2 teams from DPC 2021 North America Region
- Rank 1 goes straight to the playoffs
- 2nd place qualify for the group stage
- 2 teams from DPC 2021 South America Region
- Rank 1 goes straight to the playoffs
- 2nd place qualify for the group stage
Of course, this major tournament is what Dota 2 fans have been waiting for after fasting and not seeing competition between regions for 14 months! Hopefully this tournament can also provide fresh air for the pro Dota 2 scene in the world! And let’s pray that Indonesia will have a representative at this event!
