OpTic Gaming Get Last Ticket to ESL New York Tournament


The OpTic Gaming team managed to qualify for the ESL New York tournament after defeating Cloud9 in the American qualifier round. OpTic Gaming will compete with SK Gaming, G2 Esports, Team Liquid, Virtus.pro, Na’Vi, Fnatic and Astralis for a prize pool of $250,000.

This victory was obtained a few hours before the match, one of its players, Damian “daps” Steele was announced to leave the team, and then OpTic Gaming re-signed its former roster who left last August Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz.

Before reaching the grand final, OpTic Gaming managed to get rid of NRG eSports and Immortals, meanwhile Cloud9 defeated Counter Logic Gaming and Team SoloMid. In the grand final round, the first map used was de_train, OpTic Gaming had a narrow lead in the first half with a score of 8-7 and finally closed with a 16-14 win.

The second half took place on the de_overpass map, Cloud9 could beat OpTic Gaming with numbers 16-13 and made the tie 1-1. The third map which is also the deciding map is played at de_cobblestone, OpTic Gaming which is on the CT side is ahead with numbers 9-6. Instead of Cloud9 using CT, they failed to score at all and finally the match was won by OpTic Gaming with a score of 16-6. Final score 2-1 for OpTic Gaming’s victory in the grand final.

Cloud9 is not at its best when it comes to OpTic Gaming, most of the players are playing far below their performance. Whereas Cloud9 is currently the top-ranked team in the North American region in the ESL Pro League, with a 23-1 record including two wins over OpTic Gaming in August.
