Pikmin Get New AR Mobile Game from Dev. Pokemon GO

The great success since the worldwide debut of the Pokemon GO game has made Niantic’s name more widely known. In addition to providing consistent support to polish the quality of Pokemon GO, they are apparently preparing another new AR game project, this time devoted to the Pikmin franchise.

This surprise was announced for the first time through official social media posts from Nintendo of America and Niantic, where they announced their collaboration in the development of the game. Along with this announcement, the developer has also opened pre-registration access and confirmed that the game will be released in 2021.

There is no additional information or details regarding the concept that the game will carry. However, Niantic gives a rough idea of the sensation of adventuring in the real world accompanied by a group of Pikmin. If we compare it to the franchise, we can imagine an AR game that requires players to explore, collect Pikmin, and interact with them throughout their adventures in the real world.

Since the company’s debut in 2010, Niantic has developed a variety of unique AR-based games. Pokemon GO is clearly their most successful product, but it would be very interesting if they could make some of their newest games a sensation that is no less big. Moreover, relying on their experience over the last decade and what other innovations will be brought to the new games.
