Sliver.tv And ESL Partner To Broadcast VR Matches

The IEM Oakland ESL tournament will be broadcast in virtual reality, according to announcements from ESL and Sliver.tv today.

Intel Extreme Masters is set to run from November 19 to November 20. This is the first time that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends tournaments will be broadcast in VR. live statistics will be integrated into the tournament flow, including kill-death-assist , bomb-laying time, defuse bombs, and more.

“Sliver.tv helps us raise the bar for VR streaming with VRLiveStats. Having an immersive, real-time view of everything that happens in a CS:GO match is something unique to broadcast VR,” said ESL Product Manager Stuart Ewen in a statement. “Now, viewers have not only an eagle eye view of all the action and a first-person point of view, but also all the statistics to compile a high-level analysis of how matches are played.”

In late August, Sliver.tv raised $6.2 million in funding for its Esports display system, and it appears to have been used. The livestreaming service doesn’t allow viewers to control the camera view, but it does provide a unique perspective, showing a wider view of the map with the player’s perspective.
