Soon You Can Enter the World of DotA 2 Through Virtual Reality
Along with the launch of the HTC Vive this week, Valve has also released a number of game demos on its SteamVR page. While most of the games featured are nothing new, there is one title that catches the eye: Defense of the Ancients 2 or better known as DotA 2. From the demo shown, gamer will be able to enter the world of DotA 2 via Virtual Reality (VR) devices.
The VR demo for DotA 2 is a demo that shows the mode spectator DotA 2 which is currently still in the development stage. Mode spectator itself is a game mode that allows you to enter the world games and make observations without interacting at all. Previously, spectator mode could be activated by using the command /game mode spectator. You can imagine how exciting it would be to enter the world of DotA 2 through VR.
In the clip shown, Vive users watch a professional DotA 2 game complete with audio commentary on a virtual screen. The DotA 2 game is front and center, but when you look around you can see heroes each team, a very detailed world map, and informative health status.

Valve also teased DotA 2 fans with a caption that reads, “Look forward to more VR features coming to your favorite game.” In order to enjoy content like this, you must use an HTC Vive. There is no information on other VR devices mentioned in SteamVR and no information on when its global release will be.
DotA 2 itself is a strategy game where players have to work together with players on a team to bring down the opposing team’s headquarters. DotA 2 is the latest version of DotA which was previously integrated with Warcraft III. In terms of heroes, DotA and DotA 2 are not much different. However, DotA 2 offers a much better visuals and purchasing system items which are more. The presence of the world of Dota 2 in the form of fashion spectator for VR devices is certainly something worth waiting for.
