The History of Indonesian Esports Athletes with the Highest Earnings
As readers have heard time and time again, esports is growing rapidly in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia as a whole. Of course, there are many Indonesian athletes who have competed and even won on the ASEAN or international stage.
But before being on the team that brought their name to the top of the esports world, where did they come from? Let’s see below.
5) Xepher – Dota 2 – Around $75,258
Kenny Deo, a Dota 2 player better known as Xepher, is the highest earning Dota 2 player in Indonesia. His journey in the world of Dota 2 in Zero Latitude and Team nxl in 2014. After that he played for the Indonesian team Rex Regum Qeon from 2015 to 2018, although he was out of the team for several months.
After RRQ, Xepher joined the new team of TNC organization called TNC Tigers. Just a few months after being formed, TNC Tigers left TNC and formed the Tigers team. This team has members from many different countries where Xepher plays with another Indonesian player, inYourdreaM.
Xepher’s last team so far is the Geek Fam, another team with members from many different countries. Xepher played with the team through several roster changes, but in the end the team was released on 4 September.
4) xccurate – CS:GO – Around $80,290
Moving on from the MOBA world, all the other players on this list are shooter game players. xccurate’s career in the world of CS:GO tournaments began with a team called the Jakarta Juggernauts. In this team he participated in several tier-C tournaments.
After that he entered the first roster of a new team, Recca Esports. In his one year in Recca Esports he has won several tournaments, and even participated in a tier-A tournament. During this time he also came on as a substitute on the TYLOO team for a tournament, and no more than a month later he moved the team to TYLOO.
In TYLOO, xccurate has participated in various tier-A and tier-S tournaments. Until now, officially xccurate is still part of the TYLOO team. For a while in 2019 he was loaned to the Big Time Regal Gaming team. After the team disbanded early last October, xccurate has returned to TYLOO.
3) Ryzen – PUBG Mobile – Around $150,693
Unlike the two previous players, Ryzen has played in the same team throughout his career, Bigetron RA. Short for Bigetron Red Alien, this team is one of the most successful PUBG Mobile teams in the world.
Although he didn’t play in this team from the start, now Ryzen is an important part of this team after replacing Kingzz in Bigetron RA’s main roster. As a Main Rusher, it’s your job to initiate attacks on the opposing team. The results can be seen for yourself after Bigetron won several 1st places in various tournaments in the last two years.
2) Zuxxy and Luxxy – PUBG Mobile – Around $156,274 each
Ryzen is not the only player from Bigetron RA to make this list. Even though Zuxxy and Luxxy are two different people, it’s hard to talk about one without his sibling due to their parallel careers from the start. As the second highest earning player in PUBG Mobile and the second in all Indonesian esports, many fans know their names.
Zuxxy and Luxxy started competing in PUBG Mobile as part of Bigetron RA’s first roster, after switching games from Rules of Survival. Before Ryzen joined the team, Bigetron RA had won two tournaments with their starting roster. As of now Zuxxy and Luxxy have not been swapped out of the Bigetron RA main roster, showing that their abilities are unquestionable.
Luxxy’s role in Bigetron RA is Sniper. With the help of his team, he can find shots from strategic positions to bring down his opponents. Meanwhile, Zuxxy’s roles are Scout and In-game Leader (IGL). After his teammate – NaTic – left Bigetron RA’s main roster, Zuxxy has taken the lead position in his team. Apart from being the player providing direction for the team, his job as a Scout is to navigate his team to the location that will give them the most advantage safely.
1) BnTeT – CS:GO – Around $170,233
Returning to the world of CS:GO, the esports athlete with the largest income in Indonesia is BnTeT, who now plays for Gen.G Esports. BnTeT has been playing on the CS:GO circuit since 2012 in Team nxl. In his first few years, he switched a lot between teams like EXECUTIONERS, All-Star Dragons, Fortius, and even Jakarta Juggernauts and Recca Esports where he played with xccurate.
After that BnTeT started playing with TYLOO. He played at TYLOO long enough for xccurate to overtake him to move from Recca Esports. In two years in TYLOO, BnTeT has helped them win several tier-A and tier-S tournaments. But his time at TYLOO cannot be reduced to just a few trophies as he has played with TYLOO through dozens of tournaments in those two years.
At the end of 2019, BnTeT was acquired by a North American team, Gen.G Esports. Although his time at Gen.G was not as long as TYLOO, he has won two tournaments with them. Currently, BnTeT is considered the best CS:GO player from Indonesia and one of the best from Asia.
