The Witcher: Monster Slayer Limited Release in New Zealand
On August 31, a new game from CD Projekt Red in the Witcher world, The Witcher Monster Slayer, was released in New Zealand. Currently Monster Slayer is only available for players using iOS devices. This game was just announced last week, and will use the system augmented reality (AR) Pokemon GO style where players can turn on the camera to fight monsters like in the real world.
Monster Slayer was not developed by the same team as all previous Witcher games, but rather by Spokko, a studio that specializes in mobile games. The good news is Spokko is still included in the CD Projekt Red family, the studio that developed all the previous Witcher games.
Narratively, this game takes place before the Witcher trilogy of games. Because of that, it’s likely that players won’t encounter characters like Geralt, Yen, and Triss.
The main thing that ties this game together with other witcher games is all the monsters. A Leshen can be seen in the game’s launch trailer above and there are still many monsters from the witcher world in this game. Griffins, Foglets, Trolls, and many more monsters that players can fight and defeat.
The gameplay variations are not inferior, players can use swords, signs, bombs and more to defeat the monsters. In addition, players can start quest to help other characters, or look for clues from the carcasses of dead monsters. From the information we have received, this game will have a more complex story than its rival AR games.
