Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - Will it be a perfect ending for Uncharted series?
Delaying the release date is the thing that gamers hate the most, especially if the game in question has been waiting for its presence for a long time. The same thing happened to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which had its release schedule delayed 3 times!! But this is understandable because the developer, realizing that this game is the end of Nathan Drake’s adventures, is trying to create a spectacular closing chapter by including as many game elements as possible that are more solid than their predecessors.
The result is a game that not only looks more stable, because it comes on the PlayStation 4 which has better capabilities, filled with various features – both new and upgraded versions – that are sure to attract the attention of gamers!!
The Last Adventure
After completing the adventure in the previous game, Nate decided to retire from his profession as a treasure hunter and choose to live a quiet life, together with his beloved wife, Elena Fisher. But everything changed due to the appearance of Samuel “Sam” Drake, Nate’s older brother who had been thought to be dead, in an event that took place about 15 years before the story in A Thief’s End happened!!
But his arrival was not just for the sake of gathering, because he brought information that sparked his sister’s adventurous spirit: information about a pirate town, Libertalia, which – according to legend – became a treasure trove of large quantities!! Interested in the exciting adventure that awaits him, finally Nate, along with his close friend Sully, is willing to help Sam find the treasure in question and return to the world of treasure hunting for the last time. But like their previous adventures, the trio’s journey did not go smoothly because in addition to having to travel to various regions of the world, from dense urban areas to dense wilderness, they will meet various parties who also want the same thing. The main character is Rafe Adler, a figure that both Nate and Sam know as well as the main enemy they must face.
In essence, Nate’s adventure in A Thief’s End will test everything he has to the maximum limit, both physical ability, determination, to the instinct of survival.
A Whole New World
Despite maintaining the game system that has been used by the three predecessors, the developer made a major overhaul that makes A Thief’s End look much better. First, the game world has an open world nuance which is much wider, so it can even be explored using a vehicle – something that we have never encountered before. That way, gamers will be directed to explore by visiting areas outside the main road where we can meet a variety of exciting challenges to take, both from the presence of enemies that must be faced to the natural conditions themselves. For example, when driving a jeep, sometimes you have to use a crane at the front in order to pass a certain route!
With the presence of various challenges like this, the journey from point A to point B will not be boring, moreover (thanks to a well-written script) you can also listen to the chatter of Sam and Sully on various topics that make the trip more lively. What’s interesting, you will be involved in the conversation thanks to the emergence of a dialogue option system where we can choose the answer we want to use. Although it is not yet known what effect it will have on the game, but the presence of this feature provides a unique addition that will add player interaction to the game.
Climbing, one of the important features in the gameplay, is also something that has been developed further by Naughty Dog. In addition to having more realistic animations, Nate can now use pythons when climbing cliffs so he has a steady grip when passing through certain areas. In addition, our hero is also equipped with a new piece of equipment, namely a grappling hook that can be used to descend cliffs, swing to certain edges – both to reach one area to approach the opponent’s position so that gamers can beat him.
A Thief’s End also features a feature where various objects can be destroyed more realistically, one of which is a ledge or handle that can collapse depending on how you reach it. All of that certainly makes your trip more exciting and stressful!!
Of Guns and Fists
Another feature that is also undergoing an overhaul is the combat system which now appears more dynamic, so that the course of the fight becomes more flexible and more interesting to live. If gamers usually can only shoot when standing or when hiding behind various objects, now your hero can shoot from any position. Even when swinging using a grappling hook, you can aim at your opponent (especially when using a weapon that has a scope) and shoot him. cheren!! That way, in any position we can shoot at the opponent without encountering any restrictions.
In addition to the use of weapons, hand-to-hand combat is also one of the features that developers are very concerned about. And now, the fights appear more realistic where the opponent can use various maneuvers to defeat your hero, for example, trying to use the weapon he carries to counter your blows!! All of this can be made possible thanks to the use of higher AI, so that all enemies – from Kroco to boss characters – can be quite challenging opponents. That way, the opponent will try harder to survive when dealing with Nate. Even when dropped from a cliff (yup, Nathan can pull an opponent when he hangs on the edge) they will hold on to your hero, so gamers must be able to break free so as not to fall into the abyss with him!!
From the first Uncharted game to the most recent, gamers are given the freedom to face the enemy: use a frontal attack method by shooting anyone who moves, or apply stealth tactics by silently immobilizing opponents one by one. It’s all up to you, although Naughty Dog itself recommends players to use the second method which is considered more effective and more stressful. In addition, using stealth reduces the risk of the emergence of more enemies that we have to fight.
For that they made a number of changes in the field of stealth; according to the shape of the game world that is now wider, gamers can use tall grass or bushes to avoid enemy detection. Even when your presence is detected by the opponent, by taking advantage of the grass around you and then moving to a safer location, we can eliminate traces until the situation calms down again so gamers can continue using stealth tactics.
Uniquely, the developer has also added new features to help gamers who prefer to use stealth tactics. By pressing L3 then you can mark visible opponents (later a sign will appear above their heads) so that we can monitor their movements when trying to approach their position. Not just one person, gamers can spot several enemies at once so that even if our view is blocked, thanks to the marker you can think of a suitable strategy to kill them one by one or which route to take to avoid a confrontation. Oh, enemies that make noises, such as guards patrolling while whistling, will also be automatically tagged so your hero can prepare himself.
But Wait, There’s More!!
Naughty Dog strives to bring out the best for A Thief’s End to provide a gaming experience that gamers have never experienced in its three predecessors. That’s one of the reasons why this game often gets delayed release dates, which is to enrich the game’s content and add various details that, even though they seem trivial, make this game appear even more perfect. Among them are destructible objects that are even better, for example a sack filled with sand will have holes when hit by a bullet and release its contents, so it can no longer be used as a shelter. Or a flashlight that we can manually aim at certain objects, so that Nate can also check it for clues – features that seem to be inspired by Rise of the Tomb Raider, small movements when he is driving a jeep (for example, occasionally changing the clutch), and still much more.
