Destiny: Guardians is the South Korean version of Destiny 2.

On July 2, Blizzard and Bungie held a press conference to announce the new Blizzard and Bungie project in South Korea.

Destiny: Guardians

“Destiny: Guardians is the title for Destiny 2 in South Korea,” said Jerry Hook, General Manager of Globalization Project for Bungie at the press conference. In the press conference, he also stated that there would be no difference in terms of gameplay. “Destiny: Guardians will be translated into Korean both from text and voice acting,” he added.

The thing that will differentiate Destiny 2 and Destiny: Guardians is the Microtransaction feature. Microtransactions in Destiny 2 are managed by Tess Everis. This well-known character was hated by older Destiny 2 players when Bungie had problems with the issue of Microtransactions. This is not a problem for South Korea, apparently because apart from getting a new character to replace Tess Everis, the Microtransaction for Destiny: Guardians will be much different compared to Destiny 2.

Yuna, the character who will replace Tess Everis in Destiny: Guardians not only sells cosmetic items, but also EXP boosts and high-level weapons every week. If this was done in the West, Bungie would probably be boycotted by many of its players. Fortunately, the Destiny: Guardians server will be separate from Destiny 2. So, old Destiny 2 players don’t have to worry about meeting Destiny: Guardians players in the PVP realm.
