Previously, a report indicated that the Epic Games Store suffered a hefty loss after bringing tons of exclusive games to the platform. Seeing this, the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, gave his response regarding the losses suffered by his company.
According to Sweeney, there is a reason why they did this strategy at EGS. What’s that? Let’s see the following article to the end.
Epic Games CEO’s Response to EGS Losses
Via a tweet on the account Twitter Officially, Sweeney responded to reports from IGN regarding the company’s losses. According to him, the losses experienced by Epic are proof that they can get quite a large number of users. Of course, this does make sense considering that EGS attracts a large amount user which was pretty much last year.
Sweeney continued that the losses suffered by EGS were part of his investment in the future. He considered that Apple is currently trying to explain that Epic Games is experiencing financial problems even though this has not happened to them at all.
For now, Epic Games will continue to implement their strategy by bringing many exclusive games to EGS. Indeed, they are currently pouring millions of dollars in order to be able to bring a lot of popular games. However, whether this will last long or not.
EGS Will Lose Until 2027?
Apple claims that they lost $330 million when combined with data from 2019. If you look at the data released by Apple, they calculate the losses that will be experienced by Epic until the end of 2021.
At least, EGS will lose $ 600 also at the end of next year. That means, until 2027, EGS will not experience a profit.
This prediction from Apple comes from financial reports as well as last year’s court results. Even so, the Epic Games Store says that they will be profitable in 2023.
