New Blood Championships Give SEA Amateur Players a Chance to Become Pro

E-Sports Organizations from Hong Kong and E-Sports Companies from Malaysia are working together to create a Dota 2 tournament that focuses on amateur players in the SEA / South East Asia region and Indonesia is included in it.

Purpose Win Entertainment Limited (PWEL) and Fallout Gaming (FG) decided to work together to provide opportunities for amateur Dota 2 players in the SEA region to be able to continue their career ladder to a higher level, namely becoming a professional team. No kidding, this tournament will have a total prize pool of $40,000 or around 535 Million Rupiah.

They reflected on the Mountain Dew’s Dew Challenge event which succeeded in giving birth to a talented player, namely MidOne, who is currently in Team Secret and managed to become a pro player and made it through to The International 7. Seeing this, PWEL and FG wanted to provide opportunities for amateur Dota 2 players. in the SEA region to be able to develop like MidOne.

The event that will be held is the New Blood Championships where the event will consist of 3 phases starting with online qualification, then LAN qualification in 5 countries and then Main Event with a total prize of $25,000 in Jakarta, Indonesia in October. The winners and runners up of this event will get 1 spot in the Galaxy Battles event, which will be held in January 2018 in Malaysia next year in Malaysia. As for positions 3 and 4, they will get a position in the top 16 Open Qualifiers for the Galaxy Battles event later.

The Main Event of the New Blood Championships tournament held in Jakarta will feature each winner from 5 countries plus 1 team from the winners of the “Rest of SEA” qualifiers, 1 from the Game Plan Dota 2 amateur tournament organized by Genysis Esports, and 1 more team that has not announced. So in total there will be 8 teams that will compete to be the best in this tournament.
