Fortius Gaming, Champion of Indonesian League of Legends (LIC) 2016

All visitors who attended filled the Atrium Center of Taman Anggrek Mall on Sunday, October 16, to witness the victory of Fortius Gaming in the grand final round of the League of Legends Indonesia Championship (LIC) 2016. This team managed to defeat their opponent, namely…

Pondok Gaming with a perfect score of 2-0 and holds the title of the best team throughout Indonesia while bringing home a cash prize of 70 million rupiah. Since the first day of LIC 2016 was held, Fortius Gaming has continuously shown perfect performances.

The team, which consists of 6 e-sports athletes, was ranked the highest in the group stage for tickets to the semi-finals by bagging 4 victories. Through the semi-finals which was held on Saturday 15 October 2016, Fortius Gaming succeeded in establishing a step towards the Grand Final by defeating the Headhunters.

Fortius Gaming, by name, is relatively new to the Indonesian League of Legends competitive scheme. However, this team is not entirely new, because they are old figures who have existed in the e-sports scene for a long time; Surya ‘Square’ Wana Bakti, Thanh Lâm ‘Meocon’ Trần, Vĩnh Thanh ‘Beyond’ Trương, Kenny ‘Chupper’ Marcellino and Kyle ‘Rofens’ William.

“Fortius’ main goal, from the beginning, was to win every game. We train hard every day to give the best performance and achieve our main goal, which is to be champions. Whatever the tournament.” Said Kayle “Rofens” as the captain of the Fortius Gaming team.

“These exercises can be in the form of adding an increasingly intense training schedule. We also often try new strategies. In addition, considering that our team also consists of two Vietnamese players, we increase the synergy by getting together more and getting to know each other. This really helps us, especially Meocon and Beyond, in communicating, especially when we are in a match,” added Kenny the ADC player.

Meocon became an important figure for Fortius Gaming’s victory. The man of Vietnamese nationality showed an extraordinary game throughout the match, and successfully secured the title for himself as the best player (MVP) in the 2016 LIC event.

The LIC 2016 event officially closed with Fortius Gaming as the first winner—taking home a prize of 70 million rupiah, followed by Pondok Gaming as the runner-up entitled to a 35 million rupiah prize.

The Grand Final at Mal Taman Anggrek is the highlight of LIC 2016 which has been held since September. A total of 102 teams from all over the archipelago participated to be the best in Indonesia. Through the elimination from their respective regions, 10 teams managed to qualify for the main round and were met in the city of Jakarta. The ten teams were divided into two groups, where each group contained five teams.
