Tencent Company to Invest 15 Billion Dollars in Chinese E-Sports in 5 Years
Tencent, the largest mobile gaming developer company today and also the parent company of Riot Games, said it would invest heavily in China’s E-Sports industry with an unmitigated value of 15 Billion Dollars!!
No kidding, Tencent will cooperate with Chinese sports bodies to raise the standard of E-Sports in the country that has the largest population in the world for now. In addition, there are also many pro teams born from China which seem to make the country have good potential to develop E-Sports even further.
Tencent has been named the top 10 companies with the largest market capitalization in the world. Why? If you don’t know, Tencent is the owner of Riot Games which is the developer of the League of Legends game. Then Tencent has also acquired an 84% stake in the company Supercell, which is famous for the Clash of Clans and Clash Royale games in 2016 at a price of 8.6 billion dollars.
In addition, now Tencent has a Mobile MOBA game that is made to resemble a LoL game with the name Honor of Kings which is very popular in China. Now the game is perched in the first position of the game on the Play Store and App Store. Now they will expand to Europe under the name Strike of Kings.
According to the report, China’s profit from the E-Sports industry grew by 52% and reached 7.2 billion dollars and 34% of it was generated from mobile gaming. It seems that Tencent’s strategy is to get to the area that China has not been able to achieve, namely to get the largest number of prizes from all E-Sports events around the world.
