Since its first release in 1996, Resident Evil has managed to become the best game franchise made by Capcom. During its 24 years of existence, Resident Evil has introduced many different characters. One of the famous female characters is Jill Valentine.

Currently Resident Evil is faced with two major projects, the first is the Resident Evil 8 game and the second is the CGI film Infinite Darkness. Unfortunately, from the two big projects, Jill Valentine’s character certainly doesn’t appear. This makes players wonder why Jill Valentine is not present in Resident Evil 8 and Infinite Darkness?

What’s Up With Jill Valentine?
Based on the official canon of the Resident Evil franchise, the last time fans saw Jill Valentine was in the Resident Evil 5 series. In the game, Jill is depicted as kidnapped by Albert Wesker and hidden. Towards the end of the game, Chris Redfield and his new partner Sheva Alomar manage to free Jill by tracking down the device on Jill’s body. After surviving, Jill was returned to the BSAA.
While in Resident Evil Revelation 2, Barry Burton once revealed in an email that Jill was undergoing rehabilitation after the events in Resident Evil 5. This was the last time Capcom mentioned Jill’s circumstances and whereabouts. There is no movie or game that mentions Jill Valentine other than information from Barry Burton.

Why Didn’t Capcom Show Jill Valentine?
Even though Jill’s game analysis is currently undergoing rehabilitation, Capcom has not revealed any official questions regarding the reason why Jill Valentine did not appear in RE8 or Infinite Darkness.
If we look at the sales performance of the Resident Evil game, starring Jill’s character, all of them do not have as good sales as other series. Overall, Jill is the main character in Resident Evil, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Revelations. Among the three series, the first Resident Evil and its 2002 remake were Jill’s most successful games. Both managed to rank 7 and 8. While Resident Evil 3 and the 2021 remake version, were in positions 9 and 12 and Resident Evil Revelations was ranked 13.
Judging from this information, it is possible that the reason Capcom did not present Jill in Resident Evil 8 or in the Resident Evil Infinite Darkness film was the fact that the games he played did not perform as well as the games played by characters like Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield.

The Reason Capcom Didn’t Bring Jill Valentine

But keep in mind! That it’s Jill isn’t the only reason Resident Evil’s sales performance isn’t very good. The first Resident Evil remake was released on the Nintendo GameCube, even though most RE fans are using PS2. The same thing applies to RE Revelations which was released on the Nintendo 3DS. After getting bad sales figures, RE Revelations was finally released to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. After that the sales figures could be better.

So far there is no clear information whether Jill really will not appear in the Resident Evil Revelation film. Given that the recent trailer only shows the adventures between Leon and Claire.

Meanwhile, in the Resident Evil 8 trailer, it has been hinted that Chris Redfield’s story will end soon. If this is true, then there is a chance Jill Valentine will appear. Because there’s no way this would be the end of Chris’ story if Jill wasn’t there.
