That statement is true, especially if one has setup computer very close to the eye. Computer radiation can cause nearsightedness, cataracts, and epilepsy.

Interestingly, this effect is only felt 15 to 20 years later. This effect comes gradually over a long period of time, until people don’t realize it happens because of their past ‘sins’.

Minimizing Bad Effects For Short or Long Term

Even though it has a big impact on their future, esports athletes do need to be in front of a computer screen for quite a long time. How to minimize the impact of radiation is quite easy actually.

In terms of food, try to consume foods that contain lots of vitamin A. For example carrots. In addition to the computer itself, try to use filter, in order to minimize radiation. And of course keep your eyes on the monitor itself.

And for those of you who are pressed by the game best-of-three (Bo3) and the like, Spaceman also provides its own tips.

“Rest your eyes after games finished. About 10-15 minutes, try to see objects that are far away. Or don’t try to look at the green trees/plants so your eyes will come back fresh.”
