Cool JRPG Monark Finally Releases First Trailer and Lots of New Screenshots

In accordance with a predetermined schedule, today publisher FuRyu together with developer Lancarse finally officially showcased their new game project, entitled Monark. Carrying the same premise as the Caligula Effect series, this game is a JRPG that focuses on school themes and was also developed by former staff of Shin Megami Tensei, but with a darker story theme.

The new breakdown includes a nearly four-minute premiere trailer, two music videos, as well as a collection of premiere screenshots, all of which you can check out below:

So Monark is a new JRPG that still carries the standard concept that FuRyu has applied in the Caligula Effect series, such as how the game carries a school theme and a turn-based battle gameplay system with a free turn system. The difference is, Monark brings some unique elements of its own, such as how the character you play can enter a “crazy” phase that can make it very strong, but if you lose control you can hurt your friends.

Another uniqueness of this game also lies in the “EGO” system which represents the player’s desires or the seven deadly sins such as pride, greed, envy, wrath of lust, gluttony and laziness. This system will refer to how your character chooses crucial decisions in the story that also affect what types of demons can be your subordinates. Not to forget, the game will also have various endings and different story routes for extra replayability.

While moving on to the synopsis, this game tells the story of a student council group at a school whose task is to solve strange cases at the school. You as the protagonist will play the role of the leader who must determine the destiny of the group and your followers. Roughly speaking, this concept is quite identical to what has been offered in Caligula Effect, but Monark seems to have a darker story atmosphere.

Monark is scheduled to be released in Japan first for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on October 14th. The good news is that the developer will prepare a free update that will bring English subtitles and voice over options shortly after its release.
