Maybank Ready to Repay 22 Billion Money From Winda Earl!

The case regarding the loss of Rp. 22 billion in savings belonging to Winda Earl finally began to find its light. A few days ago, many were worried about Winda’s fate because Maybank used Hotman Paris’ attorney. However, on Monday (11/16/2020), PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk gave a statement that they had confirmed that they would return Rp 22 billion of funds that were misused by unscrupulous branch leaders.

“We need to say that, we never planned to delay the reimbursement of funds for affected customers. However, there are several things that need to go through a thorough investigation process,” Tommy told CNBC Indonesia.

Tommy also explained that Maybank is committed to complying with applicable laws in the financial industry. One of them is by being responsible to customers, shareholders and the public.

In connection with this statement, Maybank will prepare a replacement fund for Winda Earl, although the exact date is still unclear.

“This is of course done by taking into account the applicable legal aspects, for both parties to comply,” added Tommy.

Prior to that, in the KompasTV program, Hotman Paris’ attorney also gave advice to Maybank to replace the funds.

“In good faith, I ordered Maybank to pay even though this anomaly was very serious,” said Hotman Paris.

According to him, Maybank is a large-scale bank with total assets of up to Rp 175 trillion, so there should be no problem with replacing the loss.

“We, Maybank will pay. Tell Winda and his father to go to Kopi Johny, I will try to make Maybank willing to pay as long as it is a win-win solution, this is my promise, Maybank is willing to pay even though there are irregularities like this,” added Hotman.
