Along with developer Nihon Falcom’s 40th Anniversary celebration which falls today, they have finally opened the official website for the game The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki (Trails of Black/Darkness). The latest Trails series that started the Calvard story arc is indeed the most ambitious series so far, as well as marking a new beginning for the Trails sub-series that can be played by even newcomers.
The game’s official website coincidentally summarizes a myriad of new, very interesting information, ranging from the concept of the story, the characters, to the gameplay that has been reshuffled into real-time action with a combination of turn-based battles. You can see a detailed summary of yourself below:

Aaron himself is a very talented young man whether in the field of martial arts “Moon Flower Style”, a skilled casino player, or a sword-style dancer where he can even deceive the audience by disguised as a woman. Because of his very unusual behavior, Aaron received various nicknames ranging from “Prodigy” and “Young Emperor of Luo Zhou”.
Story Setting
The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki takes the story setting in the land of Calvard which has finally been freed from the war at Crossbell. Van Arkride who is the main character in this game lives in the capital city of Eldith, which is the largest metropolis in the whole country. The daily activities that he does all depend on the tasks given, where one day he can become a detective, a negotiator, and can become a bounty hunter. The storyline of this game begins when Agnes approaches the “Arkride Solution Office” office which then takes her along with Van on a long mission that results in unexpected conflicts.
Game System
In addition to the graphics quality which is much more polished with the new engine, the biggest change from The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki can certainly be seen from the gameplay system. If previously all Trails games only carried turn-based battle gameplay, in this game players will be presented with a real-time action system that is apparently still combined with strategic elements as well.
So for those of you who want to take a more strategic gameplay approach, you can immediately switch the battle mode to a turn-based system with the option to use a new gadget called Xipha (similar to Orbment). In addition to standard skills, players can also perform various kinds of actions on the battlefield such as dodging attacks with smoother and acrobatic movements, or executing combo attacks that vary greatly from each character.
