A first look at Apex Legends Season 7: Ascension! Everything is new!

We are fast approaching the launch date for the new season Apex Legends, and according to the trailer shared by Respawn so far, Season 7 it will be a big event.

After the trailer released earlier this week, we got the chance to see firsthand the changes coming to Apex Legends Season 7: Ascension. Picked up to an exclusive preview event, we were able to try out some of the new additions including maps, Olympus, and new Legend, Horizon. In addition, we can also see vehicles, Trident, as well as new social features. Let’s take a look at these one-on-one additions!

New legend, Horizon

Horizon is the newest character introduced for this season. A spaceman from the colony Olympus, he was trapped on the edge of a black hole for a year, but for the rest of the world, he was actually almost 90 years old.

According to the troops, Horizon was originally conceptualized as a type of “Lex Luthor” with more of a villain trait. However, as they developed his background, he ended up becoming a more sympathetic character. In her latest iteration, she is just a mother who wants to return to her child. You can also see some of the old backgrounds with weird voice acting about finding more test subjects.

In terms of gameplay, Horizon is another character that is more based on mobility. Thanks to the space suit, his passive provides an increase in air movement. He can even make a smooth landing, which suits his tactical abilities. His tactical abilities are tied to gravity, which can be used to launch him and other players into the air. This is good for attacking against enemies, who don’t expect attacks from the air. The ultimate is also a black hole. By expelling his friend, Newt, Horizon can open mini black holes to draw enemies closer. This is great for revealing the enemy’s covert location, or alternatively, giving them some time to quickly escape.

Advance troops have a hard time balancing the power of black holes because they want something that feels useful but not too OP. Unlike other shooter games that allow respawns, they don’t want to make this black hole too strong so it can kill all at once.

Olympus

Olympus is a new map, which is a colony in the clouds. according to Senior Level Designer, Dave Osei, the map originated on an unused concept in Titanfall. One of the big features they use is “negative space”. according to Dave, the idea is to design neighborhoods that are completely devoid of unique areas, to draw more focus to locations that are actually interesting. As a result, we’ll see very noticeable differences with high-action venues across the map. This includes Levely Lounge, a fine dining restaurant that also doubles as a high-tier loot location with bustling crowds.

“There’s an interesting storyline here, where Loba’s parents were killed by the Revenant,” said Dave.

One more feature Olympus is Arcadia Supercarrier. This huge ship was previously seen anchored on the map World Edge, and has a lot of things for players to check out.

“[Arcadia Supercarrier] according to close combat, and the ship was divided into four different sections. Defensive legends are probably very, very strong here.”

In the middle Olympus, there is a giant vortex known as Rift. As one of the most interesting points, Dave Of course I want to explain it in more detail.

“This used to be a busy investigation campus before Phase Runner exploded. So it leaves just annihilation all around and a huge, unstable vortex in the middle.”

Rift connected to the other two zones, and Dave says players may try to approach the vortex. According to him, this curiosity will be rewarded if the player is drawn to explore along Phase Runner and sent to the center of the map. So what is it Phase Runner? This is another unique feature of the map and is a large portal that connects the three regions on the map.

“This static portal that is always active will launch players to a certain location. But unlike the Wraith portal, you will suffer internal injuries.”

New vehicle, Trident

Trident is an all-new vehicle made for crossing Olympus. With three seats, it is perfect for you and your team.

“We want players to feel safe when they land on the edge of the map, and know that they can cross the map safely and quickly.”

This vehicle is locked by the squad, so players from other squads cannot steal the vehicle and lead it down a cliff. This tactic will not work even for teammates who like to stab in the back, because Trident will launch you into the air before you fall. In addition, the damage to Trident distributed among team members, so all comrades including you will receive the same amount of damage. However, you can still focus on certain passengers and shoot them so that they are completely injured.

“We wanted the Trident to be a part of the gameplay on Olympus, so we wanted players to steal it, fight for it, and use it as a barrier in an open environment. Since the Trident was designed specifically for Olympus, it won’t be on any other map for now.”

If you don’t drive Trident, that doesn’t mean we can’t do other work. If you are a passenger, you can put certain abilities on the vehicle, such as the Gibraltar shield.

Innovative features, Club

Club is one of the most innovative features that will be introduced in Apex: Legends. No matter what shooter game you’ve played, you’ve probably had a tough time working with random players. Instead of using third party apps like Discord to find friends, Club Allow yourself to create troops in the game.

“Club is a social system designed to help teammates build a squad more quickly, but it is also designed to build a community” says Level Designer Chad Armstrong.

according to Chad, the idea was inspired in part by a social media post scowling about a weak squadmate during the public queue.

“I found it easy to relate to,” he said. “I don’t know how many have gone into Apex without a squad ready, but the experience has been mixed”.
“I’ve had a situation where teammates have watched me die so they can steal equipment or teammates are ignoring the troops so they can do anything and when they suddenly die, he expects the full attention of the troops.”

If you start Club ourselves, we can define the name, clan label and logo for Club You. Although this looks similar to other clan systems, Chad explain search tags: Masterstroke. It allows you to define personality Club itself for people looking for it and can tell players that you only want to play Ranked matches. Alternatively, you can also use it to tell players that you just want a casual match and more serious players will look for it Club other. Search Tags are determined by the game, and Club Allows players to select up to five. From the examples shown, these could be technical tags like “Mic required” and others.

“The goal behind a Search Tag is that it becomes a description or feature of what your club wants.”

Club also allows you to communicate with friends even outside the party, and provides a timeline where you can see the achievements of the experts. Club can be filled up to 30 experts, and has a rank so that more old experts can help manage Club. according to Chad, 30 experts is a large number because it allows Club thrive without becoming too difficult to manage.

Battle Pass Season 7

Season 7 also brings a rework to the battle pass where the new battle pass will be much easier than its predecessor. Completing challenges will reward you with stars, and every 10 stars you award one battle stage. To be more helpful, this game also got features Challenge Tracker, which will tell you which challenges are to be completed or which are nearing completion.

“Now, you will have an easy way on the lobby page and in the match to see the daily challenges, event challenges, as well as the weekly challenges that are almost finished”.

Chad also talked about some of the Legendaries in the Season 7 Battle Pass, including the Legendary skins for Wraith which can be unlocked at level 25. Octane also got a Legendary Skin at level 50. This season’s Level 100 skin is also a skin Reactive R99.

Comic Quest

Introduced to Season 6, Comic Quest gives players a way to learn more about the story Apex Legends. Chad confirmed he will be back for Season 7, where players can complete missions to gain access to comics.
