For the sake of his son with a disability, a father makes an Xbox Adaptive Controller mod on the Nintendo Switch

Microsoft launched the Xbox Adaptive Controller in 2021. This controller is made by Microsoft for those with special needs. But unfortunately this controller can only be run on Microsoft or Xbox devices.

But recently there was a father, Rory Steel, creatively modified the Xbox Adaptive Controller for his daughter who has a disability. The daughter, Ava, made her father modify the Microsoft controller to be used on Nintendo Switch devices.

This was done by Rory because Ava really wanted to play one of the Nintendo Switch games, namely Zelda: Breath of the Wild with his friends.

With his wits, he bought some equipment from Ebay to make the Xbox Adaptive Controller usable on the Nintendo Switch. Rory took the Xbox Adaptive Controller and plugged it in with a Nintendo Switch projection onto the LCD monitor. Although there are still a lot of wires and equipment on Rory’s controller, the results are amazing. Now the daughter has successfully played the game Zelda: Breath of the Wild with his friends with a happy smile.

Rory shared the moment when her son played a game with his homemade controller on Twitter. The video was spread and managed to make the Xbox boss, namely Phil Spencer praised Rory’s work. Through his Twitter, Rory revealed that this is the first version of the controller that he made and will make a follow-up version in the near future.
