Man United Sues Football Manager, Due to Trademark Infringement
Man United Sues Football Manager, Due to Trademark Infringement– Football club Manchester United sued Sega for copyright reasons.
Manchester United has filed a lawsuit against Sega for infringement of their trademark in the form of the club’s logo and name. This lawsuit focuses on the Football Manager 2021 game developed by Sport Interactive.
Manchester United sued Football Manager when there was a Man United logo in the Football Manager 2021 game. Even though Sega and Sports Interactive did not have an official license from Manchester United in their game. The logo used is a simplified logo by the Football Manager 2021 team with a simplified red and white stripe.
In addition, Manchester United lawyer, Simon Malynicz, argues that Sega and Sport Interactive are trying to include mods or patches in their Football Manager 2021 game. Simon claims that this is a way of bypassing licensing regulations.
But Sega denies that the logo they are currently using has 14 generic logos which means an official license is not needed. Both Sega and Sport Interactive allege that Manchester United tried to prevent certain gaming media from including their team in its games. Like the FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer series which managed to get fantastic sales figures due to licensing.
