New Horizons is back at No.1 in the UK


Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) was released last year on March 20, 2021, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was global. Circumstances that require everyone to practice social standing caused ACNH to be very successful. Gamers pitted each other’s creativity by decorating their private island, sharing screenshots on social media.

In the host country Japan, New Horizons sold over 1.8 million units on the release date, beating the record Pokémon Sword and Shield when it was first released. In the United States New Horizons was the best-selling game throughout March 2021, and became the number 2 best-selling game in 2021. In the UK New Horizons at release it sold three times more than any other new Nintendo Switch game title, namely Doom Eternal.

More than a year after its release, it seems that new fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons continue to grow, especially in the UK. Last week physical game sales New Horizons has reached the 1 million unit mark, rivaling FIFA 21 which also achieved similar sales figures in the UK. End of 2021 Nintendo announced that New Horizons is the second most popular Nintendo Switch game of all time, after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In Japan alone New Horizons is the second most popular game of all time, after Pokémon Red and Blue.
