Code Name: X Announced, New Spin-off Mobile Game from the Persona Franchise!

Since the release of Persona 5 which brought a big stir in 2015, Atlus’ flagship JRPG franchise has immediately gained high popularity and has even been recognized as one of the best RPG games ever. Taking advantage of the success of the franchise, especially from the fifth series which is still very strong, Atlus has expanded into various side projects ranging from anime to new game adaptations. Talking about the new game, Perfect World Games, a game company from China, has announced a new project that is confirmed to be related to the Persona franchise.

Titled Code Name: X, this is the latest spin-off game developed specifically for the mobile platform. The developer did not initially confirm that this was a spin-off project from Persona, but a well-known game analyst Daniel Ahmad get confirmation that confirms the fan’s allegations.

Many fans had suspected that this game was related to Persona because of the name “P5” in the promotional image, the theme that linked a dimension born of one’s hidden desires, and other additional references. The similarity can also be felt from the atmosphere shown through the inaugural trailer of the game below:

The latest information shared from the developer claims that this is a well-known mobile game from a “popular game franchise in Japan”, and if the associated franchise is indeed Persona, then there is a slight error in the claim of the first mobile game. This is because Persona actually got a mobile game back in 2007 through Aegis: The First Mission, so maybe this first mobile game project is intended for the current generation smartphone platform.

One interesting detail that we noticed also lies in the artwork of the main character which is very identical to Shigenori Soejima’s style. For those of you who don’t know who he is, Soejima is the character designer of the Persona franchise, so from here it feels safe to confirm that Code Name: X is indeed the official Persona spin-off game.
