Mega Evolution Has Arrived in Pokemon GO

Now players can see some of their favorite Pokemon in their Mega Evolution form in Pokemon GO! This feature, introduced first in Pokemon X and Y, elevates a Pokemon’s evolution one more level to give it incredible powers, but only for a limited time.

Certain Pokemon can evolve using Mega Energy. This mysterious substance can be collected by players from Mega Raid, namely Raid Battles that have Mega-Evolved Pokemon as bosses. The faster the raid participants complete it, the more Mega Energy they will get. Players can evolve with their Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill once they gain enough Mega Energy specific to each Pokemon.

Collect Mega Energy

After each time it undergoes a Mega Evolution, the Pokemon will need less Mega Energy to carry out the next evolution. As in other Pokemon games, the evolution is not permanent and Pokemon will return to their normal version after a certain amount of time. Therefore, use the time available with the evolved Pokemon to do the following:

Fight in raids. All Pokemon will get attack boost, and Pokemon that use attacks of the same type as your Pokemon Mega Evolution will get attack boost Unfortunately, every other Pokemon can’t use attack boost of more than one Pokemon Mega Evolution.
Attack the gym, but they can’t defend the gym.
Fight Team GO Rocket.
Fight with friends, but they can’t participate in the GO Battle League.
Make them buddy-mu so that they appear on the map.

Begin your journey to Mega Evolution by unlocking Pokemon GO and meeting Professor Willow. This September will be full of exciting celebration events. Here are the events:

September 1-7: Complete as many Mega Raids as you can to collect Mega Energy!
September 11-17: Hone your fighting skills using evolved Pokemon in Gym battles, against Team GO Rockets, and against trainers.
September 22-28: Befriend your Pokemon Mega Evolved and spend time with them! Don’t forget to take and share your screenshot!
