Chinese Film Studio Invests $288 Million in Hero Entertainment
Hero Entertainment, which is the developer of the mobile game Crisis Action, received an investment of $288 million from the Chinese filmmaker Huayi Brothers. As we know the Crisis Action mobile game has similarities with the competitive game CS:GO.
Present on the mobile platform, it was noted that the Crisis Action game was able to attract 10 million daily users in the Asian region alone. The agreement between Huayi Brothers and Hero Entertainment has been running since last year, but the amount of the investment is only known now after reporting the company’s annual income after tax.
In the agreement Huayi Brothers obtains a license for making films, television series or media coverage which is the intellectual property rights of Hero Entertainment. In addition, they are also trying to further develop and popularize the Crisis Action game so that it can enter the realm of esports.
The steps taken by Huayi Brothers arguably follow the footsteps previously made by other Chinese conglomerates to invest in game-making companies. An example is the investment of a Chinese company in the film made by Blizzard Entertainment, namely Warcraft, as well as the Tencent company which invested in Riot Games as the maker of the League of Legends game.
