Old God Returns to Hearthstone in Madness at the Darkmoon Faire's New Expansion

The mysterious Carnival is coming to Hearthstone with the new Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion on November 17th. A variety of attractions and wonders fill this carnival, but also a faint smell of ancient corruption. The Old Gods – immortals with terrifying powers that ruled Azeroth a long time ago – had chosen the Darkmoon Faire as their return. They will tempt players with 135 new cards tainted by their corruption.

Madness at the Darkmoon brings players back to 2016’s favorite Hearthstone expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods. Legendary minions including C’Thun and Yogg-Saron will return in a new form and give players the opportunity to use their powers and change the course of the match.

If they dared, players could cast an Old Gods Artifact – a powerful spell inspired by other Legendary minions from Whispers of the Old Gods. To continue this dark effect, players can use cards with the new Corrupt keyword, which will turn them into a more powerful variation once the higher mana card has been played.

Introducing Hearthstone Duels

Hearthstone Duels is a new free-to-play game that combines the fun of playing PvP in Arena mode with a deckbuilding experience to beat Solo Adventure. Similar to Arena, players will fight other players with the goal of achieving 12 wins before losing 3 times. But in ‘Duels’ players will start with a deck from their own collection and they will add their chosen card or Treasure after each match.

Players can also try Hearthstone Duels Heroic mode to get rewards at the end of the run just like in the Arena. But to play Heroic mode, you have to pay 150 gold or $2 USD as well as Arena mode.

With each new season, Hearthstone Duel will get a new selection of cards, Heroes, Hero Powers, and Treasures. The theme for this season is Wizard Duels with Heroes from the Scholomance Academy expansion.

Hearthstone Progression System Update

Hearthstone will undergo its biggest system change on November 13th with a rebuilt progression system. This new system will give regular rewards to players, whether they are casual players or pros. Here are the changes coming next month:

  • New achievement system shows player stats and achievements. New achievements will be added in each expansion, game mode, and major updates to come.
  • Reward Track will give players gold, card packs, cosmetics, and more. Players who purchase the Tavern Pass will receive a bonus gift. This system has 50 levels, and each expansion will provide a new Reward Track for the player to complete.
  • The rebuilt quest system will add Weekly Quests on top of the regular Daily Quests, and special Legendary Quests for events that accompany expansions or new content.
  • Players will be able to see all their progress through their new profile page, including various statistics such as rank, rating, and number of wins.
