Square Enix Announces Project Triangle Strategy, Final Fantasy Tactics' Spiritual Successor

The Nintendo Direct event that was held this morning brought a lot of new game surprises. Of the many interesting games on display, our attention is probably the most focused on Project Triangle Strategy. The reason is because the latest game from Square Enix looks like an extraordinary combination of Octopath Traveler with the classic Final Fantasy Tactics series.

Present as the latest game in the “HD-2D” series, you can see that this game offers a graphical approach from a charming combination of 2D with 3D. The focus of the gameplay it offers is a Tactical RPG which is very typical of the Final Fantasy Tactics series. But you can also find additional unique elements such as the Flank system to Follow-Up Attack that makes every battle feel dynamic.

This game tells the story of the Glenbrook kingdom group led by Serenoa, where he must face a conflict between three great kingdoms who are trying to control salt and iron resources. Every decision you make in the game can change the storyline to a different scenario. The decisions taken will increase some sort of stats that are divided into Utility, Morality, and Liberty. Apart from Serenoa, there are moments where the characters in the group cast their votes which can affect the storyline dramatically.

Because it is still in the development stage, this game has just received a temporary title which will certainly be changed before its release. It is also similar to Octopath Traveler which at that time was announced with the title “Project Octopath Traveler”.

When is the Game Released?

Square Enix has confirmed that Project Triangle Strategy will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2022. The good news is that players can taste this game now through the free demo version available at Nintendo eShop.
